                            An explosively compelling new play, THE SHADOWLANDS begins the day after                              the Orlando shooting, and follows Matt – a visionary, grief stricken young man,                               his best friend and “prophet” Cassandra, and siblings Ishmael and Safa – brilliant,                          traumatized Syrian refugees. Their respective attempts to rectify the wrongs done                            to them cause their lives to interweave with three groups of extremists: a collection                     of right wing conservative politicians, a liberal who goes off the deep end and a non-     religious terrorist collective led by a humanist “savior,” with their encounters and              subsequent decisions putting the fate of their souls, and indeed the entire world at stake.      Incorporating elements of magical realism, this controversial new play explores what it            means to be a human being living in our current political and cultural climate.
