Directing

"A warrior of stage direction....She transports us through eras, characters and story lines clearly and with ferocious grace...It is truly stunning what she can do with...nothing but the simplest stage magic." - Ramona Maben, Harlem Times.

"I am predisposed to trust any production under Griffin’s auspices." - Paper Tiger Reviews

Ashley has directed both new work and the classics in NYC, and Los Angeles. As a director she is most well known for her New York Innovative Theater Award Nominated production of HAMLET (Best Play Revival, Best Director, Best Leading Actress,) which premiered in NYC in 2015, returned in 2016 and is currently in talks to return again. Partnering with Emma Watson's He For She Campaign this HAMLET explores issues of gender equality - in this world Hamlet is a woman raised as a man for succession purposes and Ophelia is a woman bullied his whole life for being too sensitive.

Most recently Ashley directed THE MIDDLEMAN at the Hudson Theater (Best Play nomination,) PRICK PERFECT which won the NYC EstroGenius Festival. She is currently attached to direct the world premier of Sarah Elizabeth Brown's new work WHY NOT US, currently in workshops in NYC.

Ashley has been nominated for a NYIT Award two years in a row for Best Director (for HAMLET  and SNOW.) To date every NYC play she's directed has been nominated for an award for Best Play among other nominations.
